How To Speed Up The Your Car Accident Settlement Negotiation Process

Sometimes car accident settlement negotiations don't go as fast as you would like them to go. Perhaps you have provided the adjuster with everything they need, but you can't just shake the feeling that the process could go a little bit faster. If you are in such a situation, use these measures to speed up the process:

Be Proactive In Communications with the Adjuster

It may be that your adjuster has been the one initiating contact with you when there is something to discuss. If that is the case, then you need to change things and start initiating communications with the adjuster. These people handle multiple claims simultaneously; being human beings, you expect them to work faster on files whose subjects are actively participating in the process.

So when the adjuster promises to call you later in the week with updates, don't give them any allowance when the deadline elapses. Instead, call them immediately and demand the update.

Cooperate With the Adjuster

The speed of the process doesn't just depend on the adjuster's work; it also depends on your actions. Therefore, don't just hand over the requisite documents to the adjuster and wait for payday. For example, follow the adjuster's instructions as best as you can. If the adjuster asks you to take the car to a collision center, take it there as long as you have no serious problem with the center. It might be that they have a good working arrangement with the center, and taking your car there will speed up the process compared to if you take it to another place. It won't hurt to be pleasant in your dealings with the adjuster too.

Ask To Talk To the Adjuster's Supervisor

In some cases, it might just be that the adjuster isn't working as fast as they can. Perhaps they are lazy or preoccupied with their side hustle. In such a case, asking to talk to the adjuster's supervisor might help. Only do this if you have exhausted other avenues without help. For example, if the adjuster is always breaking promises and is poor in communication, asking to talk to the supervisor might make them work faster.

Hopefully, these practical measures will help you hasten the claim process. However, sometimes things don't work like that in the real world, and the process might continue at a snail's pace despite your best efforts. In such a case, your best course of action is to consult an auto accident lawyer to help you speed up the process.

About Me

Avoiding Accident-Related Lawsuits

When I started driving a nicer car, I realized that I became a target for people who wanted to crash into my vehicle and claim that I had something to do with their injuries. I didn't like feeling like a target, so I started talking with a lawyer about ways to reduce my liability. I took a defensive driving course, started staying away from people that were driving recklessly, and focused on avoiding lawsuits by handling interactions with other drivers more responsibly. It was amazing to see how much of a difference those simple actions made on the road. This blog is all about avoiding accident-related lawsuits.
